Jonathan Scholnick

I am interested in the evolution of the cultural traditions of artifact design and decoration. My dissertation research (Ph.D., Arizona 2010) focused on the decorative variation of 17th and 18th century New England gravestones. Currently, I am investigating the application of phylogenetic systematics to the evolution of culture using the known cultural phylogenies of New England gravestone carvers and the gravestones attributed to them through the historic record.
