I am enrolled in the MA program in Archaeology at SFU. The objective of my thesis research is to develop a method of inferring skill level and practice time from drawings that can eventually be applied to Upper Palaeolithic cave paintings. The project employs an experimental archaeological approach. I am using drawings and drawing histories of living individuals as a baseline for establishing the attributes associated with skill and practice. Once established, the attributes will be used to interpret the skill level of the individuals who produced the cave art of the Upper Palaeolithic. My project is being supervised by Prof. Mark Collard (Human Evolutionary Studies Program and Department of Archaeology, SFU) and Dr. Laura Dane (Department of Psychology, Douglas College).
